Nrityagram Bangalore

In 1990, the renowned Odissi dancer Protima Bedi conceptualised Nrityagram, a dance village situated near Hesarghatta in rural Karnataka. Located just 35 kilometers from Bangalore, Nrityagram, in Protima Gauri's own words, is "a community of dancers in a blighted place lap of nature".

In addition to the excellent dance school, this place's other offers are the beautifully made village that consists of mud homes, greenery, and open spaces to give its tourists and students a peaceful and serene feeling. It is India's first modern residential school and only offers education on the topics of different Indian classical dance styles, both theoretical and realistic. A culture that takes the shape of a dance village is Nrityagram. A visit to Nrityagram will also give you the opportunity to explore the reservoir of Hessarghatta, situated five kilometers from the dance village. Education in many classical Indian dance styles is provided here, such as Bharatnatyam, Mohiniattam, Kathak, Odissi, Kathakali, Manipuri, and Kuchipudi.

Gerard da Cunha, who was an incredibly successful Indian architect, designed Nrityagram. It continues the tradition of the old Indian student.  Nrityagram also sends dance troupes to perform internationally and so since 1996.
