History

The opulent palace, which was once used as the king's summer retreat and was known as the 'Abode of Happiness' and 'Rash e Jannat,' or 'Envy of Heaven,' is an excellent example of Indo-Islamic architecture. The palace has ornamental frescoes, majestic arches, protruding balconies, and brilliant motifs, making it one of the most notable ancient inventions. Before entering the palace, one may take a leisurely walk through the balconies. As one explores the palace, one is bound to get a look into Tipu Sultan's royal lifestyle.

After Tipu Sultan's demise, the British used the monument as their Secretariat until about 1868, before moving to Attara Kacheri. The palace is an attractive tourist destination and a slice of solitude in the heart of the capital, with lush green parks, flowering shrubs, and sparkling fountains. A tiny portion of the fort has recently been turned into a museum displaying numerous historical activities.

Majestic Throne

The Royal Throne measured 8 feet in length, 11 feet in height, and 5 feet in width. The throne was surrounded by smaller tiger paws  Above the seat, there is a lovely ornamental canopy with an Huma bird, also known as the bird of Paradise, perched on it. The throne had silver steps and was adorned with a few smaller tigers' heads. Many of these pieces were wrapped in gold sheets and embellished with gold leaf.
