ChefSocial provides users a rare taste of fine dining at home, from cooking delectable meals to organising the atmosphere. In your beloved Italian restaurant, how many times have you wanted to enjoy a peaceful dinner, only to be disrupted by pushy waiters or a wailing kid at the table next to you? Nice food and wine have marked many anniversaries, birthdays, and marriage proposals, so believe if you will have the same experience at your home would be a win-win situation.

Bengaluru-based ChefSocial can be helpful if you want to have a very special, private sit-down dinner made only for you and your loved ones at home. The start-up is now scaling the success ladder with food connoisseurs, a novel idea in the region. For individuals who enjoy a relaxed ambiance over loud chatter in a restaurant, ChefSocial focuses on private dining.

The start-up sends executive chefs and sommeliers to the client's home to cook food from the best hotels in the region, as well as individual chefs. It offers dinner with wine and drinks for luxury customers as well. Akash Devaraju, ChefSocial's co-founder and CEO, and a self-proclaimed foodie attach tremendous importance to the individual needs of clients. By supplying not just food, but also the decor, cutlery, table, and chairs, the team sets the tone for the occasion. The team imports all the ingredients so that the customer can only relax over a hot meal served on luxury cutlery, crockery, or glassware, whatever her choice may be.

"Our start-up also helps chefs to come out of their comfort zone and prepare a restaurant menu that is different," says Akash.

Story Behind

Born and raised in Nagpur, education, and job, took Akash, 27, to Bengaluru. Akash's love for food helped him venture out to make the idea of ChefSocial a reality. Having worked in two previous businesses as a web developer, it was easy for him to set up the ChefSocial website where people can book their favourite chefs. Rachit, 26, was his mentee at one of the tech companies he had founded and now oversees ChefSocial's company and logistics.

With 10-12 events every month, including brunches, lunches, high teas, and dinners, the team has organised over 200 events in a period of 2.5 years. They have executive chefs on-board, both independent chefs and others employed in restaurants. With 80 percent being women, ChefSocial has a total of 24 chefs and sommeliers.

Depending on the size of the menu and the extra services, ChefSocial charges an event from  Rs 2,000 - Rs 13,000 per user, on average. The squad, originally bootstrapped, is now in discussions with investors and is open to options for funding.
