Cyber Threats

Many of our routine tasks rely on the internet in today's global landscape. Different modes of contact, entertainment, and financial and work-related activities are done online. This ensures that there is an endless exchange of loads of data and personal information over the internet.

Cyber Threats

Although the web provides consumers with a lot of data and resources, there are also some threats involved. Cyber attacks only escalate in complexity and volume, with a mixture of different types of attacks being used by multiple cybercriminals to achieve a single objective. While the list of possible threats is vast, here are some of the most common threats to internet security:

Malware: Malware comes in many types, including computer viruses, worms, trojans, and deceptive spyware, short for "malicious applications."

Computer worm: A software program that copies itself from one computer to the next is a computer worm. To produce these copies, it does not involve human intervention and can propagate easily and in large quantities.

Spam: In your email inbox, spam applies to unnecessary messages. In certain situations, spam mail that advertises products or services that you are not involved in will actually contain junk. These are generally considered harmless, but some may contain links that, if they're clicked on, it can activate malicious software on the computer.

Botnet: A botnet is a network of hacked database servers. These machines, riddled with viruses, malware, and are managed by a single person and are frequently prompted to partake in sinister operations.

Phishing: Cybercriminals seeking to solicit private or confidential details build phishing scams. They will act as your bank or web service and tempt you to check data such as bank account details or passwords by clicking links.
